Myreside (Edimburgo) – Duncan Hodge ha annunciato la squadra che domani sera (kick off 7.35pm) sfiderà gli Ospreys nel 17esimo turno di Guinness PRO12, l’ultimo prima della pausa per gli ultimi due turni di 6 Nations.
Ci sono buone notizie, e non solo per Edinburgh, perchè domani sera torna in campo Al Dickinson, che ha finalmente recuperato dopo un inizio di stagione difficile; prima l’infortunio rimediato durante il tour estivo in Giappone con la Scozia, poi in dicembre quando ha giocato tre gare prima di infortunarsi di nuovo.
“Sapevamo che sarebbe stato pronto per questo periodo, settimana più-settimana meno, ed è bellissimo poter avere Dicko ancora a disposizione“, ha detto Hodge (domani pubblicheremo l’intervista completa all’Acting Head Coach, ndr). “Ci porta una grande dose di esperienza, specialmente in un momento in cui abbiamo anche bisogno di avere giocatori pronti viste le assenze in prima linea. Si è impegnato tantissimo per tornare a disposizione ed è bello vederlo di nuovo in campo. Non sappiamo ancora quanto riuscirà a stare in campo, non vogliamo accelerare i tempi né aggiungere pressione, vedremo durante la gara. È stato dichiarato pronto fisicamente, adesso vedremo come reagirà al ritorno in campo.”
Mediana formata da Weir e Hidalgo-Clyne, con Glenn Bryce schierato secondo centro in coppia con Chris Dean.

Negli Ospreys, che devono fare a meno di undici giocatori rimasti a disposizione delle nazionali e ben diciassette infortunati, torna Sam Davies – con l’apertura rilasciata dal Galles per la gara – a fare coppia con capitan Habberfield.
“There’s a very short turnaround from Sunday but the boys were back in the following morning, working hard and preparing for what will be a tough evening in Edinburgh against a physical, forward based team who are going to make life very difficult for us,” ha detto Steve Tandy, head coach degli Ospreys, che storicamente non hanno avuto molte ragioni di sorridere nella capitale scozzese – i Gweilch, oltretutto, sono già stati sconfitti dai Gunners proprio al Myreside due stagioni fa. “Edinburgh hasn’t been a happy place for us these last few years and we want to put that right. To do that, we know that we will have to perform for 80 minutes, something that we’ve been guilty of not doing over the last couple of weekends.”
I gallesi arrivano alla sfida, valida per il 17esimo turno di Guinness PRO12, al secondo posto in classifica ma Tandy non si fa illusioni: “We’ve not won anything yet, we’re all aware of that, but we’ve dug in and are still in there. We’ve prepped well this week and we know that we need a good performance on Friday night then we can take stock of where we are ahead of what promises to be a tough but exciting couple of months for Ospreys Rugby.”
Paul James – se utilizzato – conquisterà la presenza numero 150 con la maglia della Region, mandandolo in vetta alla speciale classifica dei giocatori con più presenze in PRO12 per i Gweilch – scavalcando Duncan Jones. In panchina anche l’ex-Zebra Brendon Leonard.
